So... Been pretty quiet on here ain't I? Been a bit busy as I've taken on more blogs than I can handle so this one has been a bit deserted, so I've made a promise with myself, this one's going to be a bit of a weekly thing and I'll do my best to keep up with it.
Anyway I thought I'd let you into what I did over the weekend, Saturday specifically. So the Ampy Bug had a college interview so we decided to board the train at silly o'clock and went about our business. After a few mishaps along the way we got the college thing sorted we decided to have a little day out and see some sights, not the usual Big Ben, Oxford Street (although we did end up there) and the Eye, we went a bit different.
So the tube ride from Wembley to Bethnal Green went a bit different to we once planned, we got off on Oxford Street for McDonalds, if you've not eaten McDonalds on Oxford Street you've really not lived. We moved on from here and jumped on a bus to Camden Town to find Peter Doherty's new business enterprise 'The Rag And Bone Shop', what we found was something I wasn't expecting. I was expecting a busy shop filled with memorabilia from one of my favourite all time artists, instead I saw something of a desperate man, he seems to be selling off the majority of his personal possessions to fund a lifestyle that's killing him. I found myself slightly chocked up looking through the endless overpriced trinkets and buying nothing.
Up next we decided to find the legendary 'Up The Bracket Alley' in Bethnal Green, after having a small Tizer party on a park bench and seeing a disgusting man shouting racist slurs at an Asian guy while walking his dog we continued our hunt. Nestled behind the Hare pub 'Up The Bracket Alley' is a very special location for a lot of Libertines fans, filled with graffiti from fans. There's lyrics and drawings on the brick and shutters within the alley.
As you enter the alleyway you're greeted with the writing you see above, what you're promised is a temple dedicated to one of the greatest British bands of the last 20+ years.
The amount of love displayed is amazing, you can certainly get a feel of the gravitas of how much this band have touched people's lives.
People have even dated some of the things they've wrote, I think a lot of stuff has been painted over which is sad but it's seemingly replaced quite often.
This was above all my favourite piece, lyrics from one of my favourite songs by the band on a colourful background working perfectly together.
Anyway back to the rest of the day. While down the alley we found a purse thrown behind a broken fence, after having a look inside for an address to return it we decided to take it to the police, nice folk an' all and hoping for a bit of that good karma shit Earl's always babbling on about. Sat in the police station for a while, and was done within half an hour, looks like doing this was for the best. After leaving the police station I look down on the floor and see an Oyster card, a visitors one so returning it would just result in the TFL receiving more money I decided this was karma paying me back for being a fine upstanding member of society. The greatness of this situation increased 16.5% when checking the Oyster, it contained £16.50 which is now mine.
After this I spent a little time chasing squirrels in the park, as you can see from the couple of photos below I got a couple of decent pictures and had fun chasing them around.
The next stop on our journey was Whitechapel, I've always wondered what it looked like and to have a look if there's anything up where the hookers were ripped by that guy Jack a couple of years ago. To say I was disappointed would be an understatement.I turned into one of those tour stealing guys and heard about the first one. The whole thing bored me half to death so I wandered off in the direction of the Isle Of Dogs. Being the lazy fucktard I am we got a bus, we never reached the Isle Of Dogs but we hit the Greenwich foot tunnel. While in Whitechapel I found a couple of pieces of graffiti outside a run down shop.

I'd never heard of this crazy tunnel thing, we hopped in the lift and got to the bottom to find a long and very very cold tunnel. Not a lot impresses me in life but this did, when we emerged into Greenwich I was again quite impressed. I'd lived in South London for a year in 2011/12 but never set foot in the actual town of Greenwich, I'd been to the o2 in North Greenwich but never further. While there I found a delightful record shop with a ridiculously low priced section, there were even video tapes being given away free of charge which I found quite nice of them.
From Greenwich we ended up in Blackheath, don't know how, we took another couple of buses til we ended up in Woolwich where we got a train all the way to Charing Cross. While we were there I saw a middle aged man with a bag of clothes he's just bought from H&M and a water bottle filled with vodka. Unusual as he's a clean and regular looking guy but having a little tipple outside a train station.
So we end up at Paddington and I've got something to check up on, all day in the back of my head I've had something niggling at me saying I've got money in the bank, I know I haven't but for some reason I think I have. When it's checked I see I've had £20 paid in from something, oh the joy I felt. Money and I'm right.
Get back to Reading around half 11 and the day has come to an end, I get a greeting from a Reading local, she says and I quote "wag one popcorn". A fine end to a spiffing day, the next step was a 12 hour sleep which I feel I thoroughly deserved.
So, as I said I'll try to update weekly but it's all down to how much I've got on with the other blogs, which you should all check out by the way as they're very good. Check up with them
here.
Cheers for reading you little treasures you.
